About us
1928
Alfred Becker sets up his own trading and repair business for cooling equipment for the food branch in Saarland.
1929
The economic links to Alsace-Lorraine/France result in the company’s operating range. Business trips to Paris are a must.
As a clerk, Becker orientates himself to the future market with a fully hermetic refrigeration machine.
1935
The result of the referendum leads to the loss of the sales area Alsace-Lorraine. At this early stage, the company is extremely innovative with sales of KOWA condensers (hot water prepared using the waste heat from cooling machines).
1936/39
Alfred Becker is also looking for improvements in the refrigeration branch. On 15.10.1936 a patent is granted by the government for ice sole cooling.
Sales come to a standstill due to the war. The main field of activity is limited to maintenance and repair work on existing systems.
1945
End of the Second World War. Chaos – but life must go on.
The company starts training a first refrigeration system constructor on 07.07.1945.
1946
Work is started on rebuilding the old facility in Saarbrücken-Burbach.
1948
Saarland-based companies are no longer allowed to deliver to Germany. Business relations with France are started again. "La Maison du Froid" soon has branches in Paris, Lyon, Strasbourg, Nancy and Metz. Production flourishes, service is good, the future is secure.
The slogan "Gute Kühlung" ("good cooling") and the stylised "B" (drafted by Roland Stigulinsky) becomes the brand mark.
1955
When the Saarland is reintegrated into the Federal Republic of Germany the French market is lost.
New customer segments are opened up with the ULTRA-CLIMAT salami maturing system and a banana ripening system.
1959
The borders to Germany are opened in 1959, which means additional pressure from German competition. Two attempts to found a company in France fail, and the company’s participation in the "Foire de Nancy" in 1967 is not as successful as in the past. Different macro-economies and national reservations are greater.
1967
Dr. Joachim Becker takes over the company and starts to expand the field of air-conditioning technology for trade, industry, the public sector and private users.
1969
A special order is received: delivery and assembly of a refrigeration system in the Republic of Congo. The refrigeration fitter Manfred Hastrich masters the Job in Africa.
1972
From November 1972 onwards, the legal name of the company is simply Alfred Becker GmbH. The additional "Kühlanlagenbau" (refrigeration construction) has been dropped. Air channel and accessories production grows and becomes a separate department alongside system construction and customer services.
FÜR GUTES KLIMA (FOR A GOOD CLIMATE) becomes the company’s motto. The future is secured with special systems for the IT branch.
1974
The Full Service area is growing. In December 1974 the company Saarbrücker Luftkanalbau GmbH (SLKB) is founded.
1980
Shopfitting/refrigeration units etc. are forgotten, the young generation of employees has never got to know them. Air conditioning, ventilation, cooling from KLIMA BECKER from the border to Lorraine to the Rhine is the motto.
The oil crisis 1979/80 is a challenge and a chance "to get away from oil". A combined solar/heat pump system is fitted.
1989
A restive year. The commitment of the past few years leads to turbulent growth and requires reorganisation of the whole operational workflow. An extension is completed, leaving room for new activities.
1996
Klima Becker’s first experience of installing air-conditioning technology in a clean room. The following year, the first self-planned clean room of class 5-6 and 7 is constructed in accordance with VDI 2083. The customer is in the business of manufacturing micro circuits on a silicon basis.
1997
Dipl. Wirtsch. Ing. Thomas Becker manages the company in its 3rd generation. Expansion of the fields of activity to cover the areas facility management and clean room technology.
1998
Expansion of the service and maintenance service by the fields of heating technology (first in cooperation with partner companies, today with our own firing and heating technicians).
Opening of the first Full Service point outside the Saarland in Wiesbaden.
1999
Entry into the VRF business (Variable Refrigerant Flow) and first project for Heidelberger Druck.
2000
The Full Service point is opened in Kaiserslautern.
The air hygiene line is expanded in the Full Service GmbH. All employees are trained within the context of VDI 6022 (hygienic operation of ventilation and air-conditioning systems). The Full Service GmbH continually extends its expertise in this area and offers internal and external hygiene training.
2001
GIGA GmbH (Gesellschaft für Industrie und Gebäudeautomation = company for industrial and building automation) is founded from the "measuring and control technology" department.
Over the years, SLKB’s product range has continually expanded in thin sheet and special constructions. Stainless steel products are produced e.g. for large-capacity kitchens.
2002
Alfred Becker GmbH founds a further 3 independent companies: KLIMA BECKER Anlagenbau GmbH, KLIMA BECKER Full Service GmbH and BECKER Reinraumtechnik GmbH.
The business field transportation cooling is expanded.
2003
The lines vehicle cooling and drinking water hygiene are added as new business fields in Full Service. From now on, all fitters and technical clerks are trained in taking water samples for examining drinking water hygiene (TVO 2001). Full Service Managing Director Christian Stark becomes a state-certified disinfector.
2004
BECKER Technologies Pvt. Ltd. is founded in Pune, India. The subsidiary concentrates on the fields of CAD construction, technical planning and clean-room technology among others.
The Full Service point is opened in Cologne.
Since 2004, Full Service GmbH has had a training quota of 1:3 for mechatronic technicians for refrigeration technology in the ratio service technicians to apprentices.
2005
The 100th apprentice is trained as a mechatronic technician for refrigeration technology by Mr. Hermann Kühn.
Expansion at GIGA by the company division control room construction.
2006
Subsidiary Klima Becker Georgia is founded in Georgia. Among other projects, Klima Becker is involved in the "presidential palace" project as general contractor.

The BECKER Group takes on 20 new apprentices. This is a new record in the company’s history! This means the number of young people being trained within the company group grows to 38.
2008
BECKER is always open to new technologies. Heat pump technology and clean air technology (clean air for people suffering from allergies) are new areas of business.
Introduction of leak tests at Full Service GmbH within the context of the climate chemicals protection directive.
Introduction of the IT ’eMS’ (electronic assembly rail) in Full Service. All fitters are equipped with a notebook and from now on, the complete order process, from order entry to dispatch of the service report to the customer, takes place electronically.
2009
The keyword of the year is renewable energies. One contributing factor is the new ORC technology which gains energy from discharged heat. BECKER also takes over a leading role in the application of the energy saving directive for industrial companies.
The Klima Becker Infocenter is opened in Saarbrücken.
The Becker Group expands further beyond the German borders, and founds the Klima Becker Full Service GmbH in France as well as Klima Becker S.A. in Luxembourg.
2010
Klima Becker returns to France. With the foundation of Klima Becker Succursale-France, Klima Becker has a French branch again after an absence of 45 years. We supply all our Becker Group products and services to the market through French employees.
